Marvis Music Player App Reviews

Simply the best

This developer has to be one of the hardest working developers going. Software bugs are tireless but this developer is more tireless. Updated with squashed bugs and even more powerful queue manipulation. Its unmatched now. Final update: reducing the number of stars given back to 3. This app still loses memory of the playlist you left off on. It seems to do it less than it initially did but it does still happen. At times when you return to the app your playlist is completely gone. Also when adding a song to the queue, or adjusting the current playlist, currently playing music will stutter. The latter is a small annoyance, the former is a major perhaps unfixable bug. Update: Queue/playlist memory bug and other bugs are now fixed and this is now the best most powerful music player on iOS. Im an avid app connoisseur and THIS is the music app Ive been looking for for a long time. Apologies to my other music player apps but Ive met someone else. Old review: What a potentially awesome app. LOVE the powerful queue feature. BUT....the app will lose your playlist after its closed for a short amount of time. When you return to the app your playlist along with the song you left off on will be gone. That is a killer and makes the app mostly unusable for me. Please fix this apps amnesia.

Almost perfect

This app deserves 4.5 stars, but give it 5 to pump up its profile. With the recent 8.4 release and killing the simple music app that comes with the iPod Touch, this app fills in excellently! Interface is smooth, the organization is simple, the mini player is perfect. The only thing is it occasionally will crash when I hit shuffle. It will play, but the app crashes/minimizes. Music still plays, but it disappears. Reopen the app and it is ok. Likely it has to do with my large collection size (~8500 songs).

The best player

Love this app and it is FREE!

Perfect!!

What the iPhone music player should be since it continues to get worse with every update

Hands down the best!!

It took some time, and patience, but I truly love this app. Much better than the stock 8.4 music app. I experienced a very rare, device based error in opening this beautiful app. After a few days of trial and error and beta testing, it finally worked! Aditya, the developer, worked with me personally, with lightening fast responses to solve the matter. The app is seamless and smooth, feeling very natural. All of my music is organized just the way I want it to be, with options to further customize the experience. I highly recommend this app, and will continue to support this developer!

Crashes on startup

Whenever I open the app it immediately crashes. Prior to the update a handful of my albums would also crash the app when opened. The functionality is nice when it works.

Crashes as soon as I try to play.

I can navigate ok enough. Cant get a sound out of it. Id really just like a simple "classic iPod" UI.

I didn’t know there were alternatives

Now I’m in love. I’m never going back to an Apple app for my music ever again. Marvin changed how I listen to my music permanently. .

Awesome awesome app

Ive been in sort of a love and hate relationship with Apples music player, especially since 8.4 with Apple Music. Installed this app a few weeks back and it has been so awesome, packs a whole lot of amazing, amazing features. On behalf of everyone who enjoys this app, Id like to say thank you to the awesome developer who brought us Marvis. Please keep the updates coming. Thank you.

Excellent

Its not hard to be better than the disaster that iOS 8.4 made out of the Apple Music app. But Marvis is what the Apple Music app SHOULD HAVE BEEN. Thats all that needs to be said.

Gets right what  has recently seemed to get wrong

Updated review (2.3.2): Ive gotten more joy out of this $0.99 purchase than any other. Ive now been using this as my only music app for a few months. Having tried most of the alternatives, this still stands above the rest in terms of functionality and design. It took me about five minutes in the settings section to customize the app to fit my needs and its been smooth sailing since. Each update has made things work more smoothly and added cool tweaks. I honestly couldnt go back to Apples native music app if I tried. Marvis has even added MUSIC support. Favorite features right now: 1) using the history feature to create queues of songs I havent heard in a long time. 2) using the free Musixmatch integration to read lyrics that scroll along with songs so I can sing along to them -- very, very badly and out-of-key so people stuck at my intersection can laugh at me. 3) recently I had guests over and when it came time to listen to some music I put Marvis in landscape mode and, using AirPlay mirroring and an TV, we listened while navigating the library on my TV. I was impressed how beautiful it looked even on a 65" 4k TV. For my guests sake, when we put the live lyrics on I didnt sing along. ------ Original review: This app embraces the most elegant visual elements of iOS 7/8 with well-thought out, clean default settings and an immense level of customizability for the "power user." Best of all, perhaps, is that it restores the straightforward functionality of iOS 6s music player. As a bonus, those trying Music can even use it in this app (for songs downloaded to your device). Im absolutely enjoying version Marvis 2.0. Until this app I only kept music on my phone as a sort of backup when I didnt have my iOS 6 iPod Touch handy. Lately, my iPhone has become my default music player and it looks like itll just get better. My favorite features: List/Grid view (fully customizable for Artist, Album, Song, etc.) Seamless Queuing ("Play Next/Last") "Buttery smooth" scrolling (smoother than the native app in my experience) Lyrics support (both embedded and MusixMatch integration where the lyrics scroll in real time with the song; you can even choose small/large font) View play history (easily sort by recent or "longest since I last listened to"; no playlist necessary and you can even play songs from there) Landscape support (iPhone & iPad) Intuitive interface (adjust your settings within the app; no hidden menus) Customizable backgrounds (you can even pick images from your camera roll) Global Search (which also supports auto-correct as an option) Cloud support, Share Sheet support, purchase iTunes songs within the app) "Update Last Played Date When Song Starts/Ends (great and UNIQUE option for people who sometimes skip the last few seconds of a song) That I keep discovering new things (like tap+hold artwork in Now Playing reveals shortcuts and even the complete "Get Info" from iTunes and a link to the iTunes Store) Plus Music support (for any features available through Apples APIs)

Saved me from the Apple Music app update!

Based on other reviews I thought Id try this after the Apple Music App was updated to such a prohibitive mess. Within three minutes I paid the bargain of $1 do disable the ads and now this is my primary music player. Highly-customizable and easy-to-use dont often go together, but this is a dream for playing your own content as youd like to.

Love It

This is an excellent alternative to the built-in music player that Apple somehow cant get right. I like the appearance and functionality of this app much better. I also really like that I can use it in landscape mode on my iPad - something many similar apps cant do. Well worth the measly 99¢ to remove the ad.

Now My preferred Music Player!

Originally, I was looking for a music app thatll allow me to put my phone in landscape mode for when Im in my car, considering Apple Music wont let me do it.. -landscape mode -Customizable settings. -Organization for albums/artist. -beautiful design -easy to use Definitely worth the extra $0.99 to take ads off. This hands down became my preferred music player.

Awesome music app!!

If youre not into Apple Music, this is the best music app replacement for your iPhone. Good options, swipe options, much easier to navigate. Plus the Dev is super responsive.

Pretty good but...

I love the app but I think there is a bug because whenever Im trying to play a different song for some reason it plays this other song all the time whenever I even try to click on any other one.

Wonderful Player!

The ability to play through albums by artist with no playlist silliness makes this worth the purchase!

easily rate songs

I use the iTunes 5-star rating system to organize my songs. This app is the only one Ive found that makes that easy to do while driving. I also like that the views are able to be modified by the user. My only complaint so far is that the information on the currently playing song could be bigger so I could see it better from the middle console of my car. That is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars.

Version 4.0 keeps crashing

Open it up and a few seconds later it crashes.

My favorite music player, ever

I recently switched (maybe temporarily) from Windows Phone. I enjoyed the music experience there with Groove and third party apps like ModernMusic and CorePlayer. Coming to iOS has left me wanting, with Apple Music, like WP8.1s music app, just not cutting it. Then Marvis came along. The mostly reliable, well-designed media player has usurped the throne of favorite music player. Easy playlist and library access is just a swipe away, etc. Settings are also nice. I LIKE WHAT YOU GOT. WELL DONE.
